Stay tuned for future Walk to school events and activities!

This year ERS has implemented an ABC program (Active, Bus, Car) where
each day children record whether they walk, take the bus or get driven
to school!  Prizes are drawn each month and a HUGE prize will be drawn
at the end of the year for those students who have chosen the most
active and environmentally friendly way to get to school.

Why:  A recent survey at Elizabeth Rummel School indicated that many parents are concerned about  the safety of their children as cars, buses, and young pedestrians jockey for space outside the school.  One way to improve traffic safety and reduce traffic around  ERS  - AND model a healthy and less impactful lifestyle - is to encourage more students to walk to school, in the company of a responsible adult.

What:  Welcome to the Walking School Bus - The walking equivalent of a car pool! In this program, an adult volunteer walks a set route each day (possibly in rotation with other parents each week) picking children up and safely escorting them to and from school.  The ERS  Council supports this important initiative, and looks forward to seeing how the pilot project works.

Get involved:   If you would like to help out please paste the following into an e-mail, and fill out the relevant information:
